Does Medicare offer any screenings to individuals at a high risk of developing lung cancer?

Yes, Medicare covers a lung cancer screening with Low Dose Computed Tomography once per year to individuals who meet all of the following conditions:
  • Age 55-77
  • Asymptomatic (currently not showing any signs or symptoms of lung cancer)
  • Current smoker or quit smoking within the last 15 years
  • Smoking history of tobacco use at an average of one pack per day for 30 years
  • Receive a written order from a doctor or other health care provider
